Devs at Dynasty: Petr Papez

Get up close and technical with Petr, Technical Director, at Dynasty Studios.

Through a series of interesting interview questions both inside and outside of gaming, the Devs at Dynasty articles give our fans a special look into individuals working at Dynasty Studios.

What is your role at Dynasty Studios?

I am the Technical Director within our Programming & Tech department.

My job is to facilitate the game tech team in making the best game experience possible. That involves different management responsibilities, from planning, documenting, co-creating pipelines, roadmaps, but also hands-on work when needed.

What do you like best about working at Dynasty Studios?

We are a fast-growing company, tackling many challenges along our way to make great games. Creating games at Dynasty is a lot of fun since we are not shying away from a challenge.

What do you think sets Dynasty Studios apart from other game companies?

We accept constructive feedback from all kinds of sources internally. Everyone is invited to contribute to improving the product, project, or the company. As a result, we have recently changed some of our project management processes for example.

What’s your favorite board game?

That’s a tough one. I enjoy both complex and party games. I have recently had a lot of fun with A Feast for Odin which is a euro-style game.

Mysterium and Dixit would probably be my favorite easy-to-pick-up party board games because of the simplicity of the core mechanics.

Where were you born?

I come from the very small town of Velešín in the picturesque South Bohemian Region in the Czech Republic. I am currently the only Czech in the company but we have many other nationalities here at Dynasty, we are a very diverse team.

What’s your favorite dinosaur?

Errr all of them? I mean. Dinosaurs. What’s not to like about any of them?

I had a toy of a Stegosaurus when I was a kid, I think it still gets my vote :]
